Memory Bears are Gifts of the Heart

Gifts of the Heart made this Christmas 2010
Many of you have read my story in the
Chicken Soup for the Woman’s Soul about
Gifts of the Heart. This year I had the priviledge of caring for my ex-husband, Gary, as he battled cancer. Even though we were divorced for 10 years, we were his famiy. We had 9 grandchildren when he passed away and recently added one more. So THIS Christmas I took some of “Pops” old sweaters and made teddy bears for each child. I wasn’t sure if they would appreciate them because the kids range from 3 months to 13 years – but they understood the special meaning from each one of them. Lea named hers “Popcicle” cause that’s what she called her Grandpa. Someone told me I could have a business making memorial bears for others who have lost a loved one. Great to know that in today’s economy there’s always a creative way to make a living right? But these are true Gifts of the Heart, one of a kind, filled with love and warmth for each of them.
